Blogmas: Day 9 AKA I HAVE CAUGHT UP

Alright, I have caught upppp (not too shabby huh) !!!!

Expanding on the idea of peace...
Something sad happened yesterday night.
A riot broke out in Singapore last night and it was truly devastating.
I was doing my work when my friends started texting me and sending photos. I couldn't believe at first but then it started trending EVERYWHERE. Everyone on social media started talking about it and whatnot.
There were, of course, racist comments (because that's totally how society is. Urgh.) and good comments as well.
I was absolutely disgusted by the people who thought that this was a funny situation. Seriously? People DIED and got INJURED and you got the nerve to laugh and joke about it??

Anyway, about peace (Oh, the irony.).
I think this is the part where we realise that us Singaporeans do take peace for granted. Such violence hasn't been seen in this country for a good estimate of 60 years and this is definitely something shocking to us all, especially being the youngest generation in this young country.

Sometimes we forget how tiny of a country we are, and how scary it can be if war were to break out here. We would absolutely defenceless against the bigger countries, no matter how strong our army forces are (Don't get me wrong, they are amazing, fearless and brave people but if a mega attack were to happen, even they won't be able to do anything.), we would basically be dead.

It was very comforting to see Twitter this morning when I saw a post where a few people decided to take flowers down to the riot site to help promote peace. There are definitely a few good people out there with a heart.

Peace is such an important thing that people take for granted... I'm going to be really honest when I say that I was scared for my life, and for the rioters and policemen and everyone at the scene during that time because watching those riots breaking out in Cairo and other countries, it is a truly scary sight. To think, those scenes that I used to see on the news happening in other countries, suddenly took place in my hometown. It's a scary thing but I think from this incident, we definitely know what we need to do next...
Let's start with the people around us. Let us have peace amongst ourselves, and slowly spread that peace to everyone else. We can do this.
Peace.
